As Operation SEA ANGEL's relief effort developed, its reach was extended inland and to the northeast of Bangladesh, including the Sylhet region, to carry aid to areas the cyclone and flooding had cut off.
The expansion reflected the scale of the disaster and the flexibility of the Marine-led joint task force, which pushed relief beyond the worst-hit coastal zone to reach affected populations farther afield. Marine and supporting aircraft delivered food, water, and medical supplies to communities isolated by the destruction of roads and infrastructure, coordinating with Bangladeshi authorities and relief agencies to identify needs and distribute aid. The widening of the operation underscored that the humanitarian mission was not confined to a single stricken stretch of coast but adapted to the full geographic extent of the catastrophe. It was relief work rather than combat, a continuation of the larger SEA ANGEL effort to bring help wherever the cyclone's devastation had stranded survivors.
